Dr. Julia Wisniewski, M.D.

Dr. Wisniewski was born and raised in Maryland. In addition to her love of medicine and yoga, she enjoys spending time with her husband, three children, and extended family in Maryland. Hiking trails, cold lakes for swimming, and lush gardens for getting her fingernails dirty: making connections with nature and community are essential.

  • She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA with a Major in Bioengineering and Minor in Materials Science. After earning her M.D. at the University of Maryland, she completed a combined residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the Mt Sinai Icahn School of Medicine in New York City, where she was Chief Resident and in the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Society.

Allergy and Immunology fellowship training and NIH funded research was conducted at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA.

Dr. Wisniewski is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Allergy and Immunology. She is a member of the Continuous Assessment Program (CAP) Test Writing Committee for the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. She has more than 20 years of experience practicing medicine.

  • Ayurveda is a disclipline that has fascinated Dr. Wisniewski since her first visit to a Yoga Ashram in Northern California, in medical school. During her tenure on faculty at the University of Virginia, she earned Certification as an Ayurvedic Medicine Educator and Practitioner. Her medical expertise is complemented by methods of diet, lifestyle, and supplements from Ayurveda.

  • Julia started teaching yoga in medical school, before she was officially certified to teach yoga. But in 2002, she earned her teacher certification at the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Ashram in Val Morin, Canada. Yoga has carried her across the globe, including Rishikesh and Uttar Pradesh, India.
